Former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi today met with Rahul Gandhi. Channi reached Delhi and met Rahul for the first time after the defeat in the Punjab elections.
Some media reports also suggest that Charanjit Singh Channi may become the next state Congress chief. Just after the elections’ results were announced, the Congress high-command had demanded resignation from the state chiefs of the five poll-bound states including Punjab.
On March 16, when Bhagwant Mann took oath as the Chief Minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu also resigned from the post of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President.
While meeting Rahul Gandhi, Charanjit Singh Channi slammed the AAP government in Punjab. He took the matter of disrupted law and order situation in the state. When he was asked about several murder cases that were coming up in the news, he said that people wanted a change and this was what they received.
Charanjit Singh Channi contested the 2022 Assembly elections from Bhadaur and Chamkaur Sahib seats. However, he lost both the seats to Aam Aadmi Party candidates.
